An eventful day off piste in Verbier

Well, we never expected to be involved in an avalanche rescue. When you venture into the back country you are always wooed into a false sense of security by wearing a helmet, taking probes, shovels and wearing an avalanche transceiver. Today we flew in by helicopter with Swiss guide Jean Marc. It was extremely hard going on a snow board – ice under foot, walking and narrow tracks. Had I known the ratio of pain to gain today I would have skied or stayed in bed.
